Phoebus Band, run by Mr. Edward Ricks (757-727-1016, ericks@hampton.k12.va.us) is a year-round music based program for the students of Phoebus High school. The band includes the musicians, the flag team, the drill team, and the majorettes. The group enhances youth lives with rigor, focus, attention to detail and excellence, supporting their fellow Phoebus students, and the local community.

The band includes the musicians, the flag team, the drill team, and the majorettes. The group enhances youth lives with rigor, focus, attention to detail and excellence, supporting their fellow Phoebus students, and the local community.

We are planning to collaborate with the PTSA (Phoebus Teacher-Student Association) in assistance with raising funds.

The program will sustain and grow the community of the Virginia Peninsula of Hampton Roads by getting more students involved via recruitment. Through their involvement and participation members learn skills that promote good citizenship and community involvement, such as teamwork, cooperation, and the spirit of setting and attaining goals.

The funds will be used to help defray annual costs for individual student band dues, equipment & accessories, e.g., mouthpieces, reeds, sticks & mallets, valve & slide oil, spats, and marching shoes, meal cost coverage for summer band camp, purchase of music, and cleaning & maintenance of band uniforms. The band director will do a cost analysis and projection by contacting various vendors of which we have done business with before for quotes. After obtaining quotes orders will be placed with vendors with the most cost effective value.
