Who is Community Knights, Inc?
Community Knights, Inc. (CK) is a not-for-profit organization providing services in support of the disabled community of the Virginia Peninsula region. Our staff and volunteers provide services directly to individuals with disabilities to build inclusivity in the community. CK also hosts regular fundraisers, including ongoing Bingo and donor-based fundraisers, in support of our mission.
Purpose
This privacy policy covers the privacy practices of Community Knights, Inc. (CK) with respect to information that is transmitted electronically to CK through this website. The policy addresses the following items:
- How CK collects and uses information.
- With whom CK may share information.
- The choices available to you, as a website visitor, regarding the collection, use and sharing of information.
- The security procedures CK has in place for information under our control.

Types of Information Collected
CK does not collect information from you unless you expressly volunteer the information. Types of information include first name, surname, postal address, email address, and mobile or landline numbers. This includes instances when you:
- Register for an event, make a donation, purchase or download a CK product or service.
- Request information (electronically) about CK’s products and services, subscribe to newsletters, or enter a promotional contest.
- Use or participate in various services or features made available on the website, including, for example and without limitation, blogs and other user communities.
- Submit an interest form or application regarding engagement opportunities with CK.
- Request contact with a CK representative.
- Provide CK with comments, questions or feedback about CK products and services or your website experience.
- When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data submitted and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect and protect against spam submissions.

- An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Cookies
If you submit information on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you engage with the site again. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Purpose of Data Collection
CK does not sell, rent, give away or loan personal information in its possession to any third party; information is stored in applications utilized for the operation of our business such as Bloomerang, GiveButter, USA Bingo, RingCentral, GoogleSuite, WordPress, Gravity Forms, or other operationally-required programs. Organizations with access to personal information are required to protect this information in a manner that is consistent with this privacy policy.
Among other things, we may use your personal information to:
- Respond to your requests and inquiries.
- Provide you with services and features offered on or through the website.
- Communicate timely information and special offers (such as in emails, mailings and the like) about products, services, and events, sponsored by us and others, that we think might interest you.
- Anonymize information for data aggregation so that it does not directly identify you. We may use anonymized information for purposes that include research, data analysis, and service improvements.
You may choose not to receive such information by emailing webmaster@communityknights.org. Please understand that if you choose not to receive promotional correspondence from us, we may still contact you in connection with your relationship, activities, transactions and communications with us.
Data Security Measures
This website takes reasonable precautions to protect information submitted to CK through its website. However, because the internet is an open global communications vehicle, we cannot guarantee that information, during transmission or while stored on our system or otherwise in our care, will be safe from intrusion by others, such as hackers.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Content on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.) or link to another website. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. Following a link to another website departs the CK website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
In the unlikely event that we believe the security of your personal information in our possession or control may have been compromised, we may seek to notify you of that development. If a notification is appropriate, we would do so as promptly as possible under the circumstances. If we have your e-mail address, we may notify you by e-mail. Community Knights, Inc. does not share any personal information to third parties or affiliates unless expressly stated at the time of the collection; if this occurs, it will be clear who is receiving the information and what information they are receiving.

Terms of Service for SMS Communications
Information obtained as part of the SMS consent process will not be shared with third parties. If you have consented to receive text messages from CK, you may receive text messages related to volunteer interests, donations, volunteer or job application status, or updates for assigned volunteer or job roles.
