COACH Program Administrator

Community Knights Inc is currently looking for a full time Program Administrator for our COACH
Program! Community Knights Inc is focused on supporting non-profits, public schools, and
individuals with disabilities on the Virginia Peninsula. We need an organized and outgoing
administrator who can help keep the COACH Program running smoothly

COACH is a program that enables adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to
volunteer in their community by providing the support they need to thrive.  We do this by:

  1. Providing participants with opportunities to learn about available volunteer positions by
    providing access to virtual tours and Q&A sessions with local non-profits
  2.  Providing virtual and in person social activities for individuals with and without
    disabilities.
  3. Developing individual plans for each volunteer to ensure that they find a volunteer
    position that they enjoy, are successful in, and helps them progress toward personal
    goals.
  4. Matching participants with volunteer coaches who work with the participant to master
    the skills required to volunteer at the location of their choosing.  The participant and
    coach will volunteer together until the participant can confidently volunteer
    independently
  5. Raising community awareness of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities by providing training for volunteer coaches and resources for non-profits organizations.

Community Knights Inc. aims to provide flexible schedules when possible. This position will
allow for a combination of in person and remote work. The program administrator will need to
be available during the day on weekdays and will be required to work 2 late evenings.

Position Responsibilities

  • Operate on call-line Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm
  • Reach out to new program applicants to complete intake interviews
  • Manage monthly feedback calls for all program participants
  • Coordinate volunteer and coach schedules to ensure volunteer positions are filled
  • Communicate with coaches and other volunteers to confirm scheduled shifts
  •  Update the program database with new member information
  •  Collaborate with development director to run for grant applications
  • Collaborate with volunteer coordinator to track volunteer hours and provide letters
  • Work with COACH program mentors to manage interns
  • Keep inventory of available program supplies
  • Coordinate monthly virtual activity calendars
  • Set up Zoom meetings and google calendar invites for virtual activities
  • Send monthly newsletters to program participants and affiliated organizations

COACH Program Administrator -Required Skills

  • Must be organized
  • Must be an excellent communicator
  •  Must be comfortable calling and emailing new individuals
  • Outgoing personality
  • Must be proficient in Gsuite (gmail, google forms, sheets, meetings, etc)
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft office
  • Must be comfortable hosting Zoom meetings
  • Experience with database systems such as Bloomerang preferred

Education and Experience
 Prefer Associates Degree or equivalent experience
 Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred
 Experience working in an office or administrative setting preferred

Start Date: June 2021
Commitment:  40 hours per week
Compensation: $12-15 per hour

INTERNSHIPS

We have 3 exciting new Internship opportunities! Seeking long term interns with the possibility of a stipend based on experience/knowledge level.   • Must be 18 or older
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • No degree or previous experience required, we encourage college students looking to gain experience to apply

Business Management Intern

The Business Management intern will learn all aspects of our bingo fundraising program. This program supports area nonprofits and public schools through grant opportunities, and has granted over $1,532,000 to the Peninsula since it’s inception. This is a large business endeavor and has many moving parts, and will facilitate real life experience on how a successful nonprofit and business is run.

The Business Management intern will:

  • Create job descriptions for all volunteer positions
  • Maintain and learn customer service skills
  • Learn how to keep track of inventory
  • Help train and manage volunteer staff
  • Gain experience with State Regulations 
  • Learn all aspects of how a business is run and managed

Position Requirements:

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Financial and accounting experience or interest
  • Ability to work evening and weekends 
  • Ability to work independently and part of team
  • Must be proficient with gSuite Applications (Google Drive, Google Forms, Google Sheets, gMail, Google meeting, etc.)
  • Must be extremely comfortable with computer skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
Internship Duration:  Ongoing
Commitment:  Approximately 15-20 hours per week
Preferred Degree Paths: Great for business, finance, accounting, communications, and marketing majors. Also anyone who is interested in nonprofit employment.

Volunteer Outreach Intern

The Volunteer Outreach Intern will work alongside our Volunteer Coordinator and Marketing Manager. To be a well run nonprofit and support all of our programs we require a large amount of recurring and new volunteers. You will be assisting in canvasing for volunteers for bingo, which supports our grants to the Peninsula, and our COACH program, which supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

  • Volunteer recruitment by phone calls to local businesses and colleges.
  • Networking with community service clubs to promote repeat volunteers
  • Collaborate with CK team to create Volunteer Recognition program to improve retention
  • Flyer local businesses and colleges
  • Table in person or attend zoom networking functions
  • Seek out new opportunities for volunteers

Position Requirements:

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be outgoing and comfortable with public speaking
  • Ability to work evening and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work independently and part of team
  • Must be proficient with gSuite Applications (Google Drive, Google Forms, Google Sheets, gMail, Google meeting, etc.) and computer skills
  • Must be comfortable setting up and attending Zoom meetings
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Sales or marketing experience is a plus

Internship Duration: Ongoing
