Part-Time Employment

Volunteer Recruiter

Community Knights Inc is currently looking for a part time Volunteer Coordinator to join our team!  Community Knights Inc is focused on supporting non-profits, public schools, and individuals with disabilities on the Virginia Peninsula!  We need an enthusiastic Volunteer Coordinator who can help us recruit and retain a diverse pool of volunteers. *This position will be a combination of in person and remote activity. Position Responsibilities 

  • Generate volunteer job descriptions
  • Manage CK’s postings on volunteer listing sites
  • Research new potential volunteer recruitment avenues 
  • Attend in person and zoom networking functions
  • Network with local community service clubs to promote repeat volunteers
  • Work within our current nonprofit relationships to aide their volunteer outreach
  • Collaborate with CK team to create a Volunteer Recognition Program to improve retention
  • Communicate with prospective volunteers
  • Create content such as fliers to advertise volunteer roles
  • Attend CK volunteer committee meetings 

Required Skills

  • Must be an excellent communicator 
  • Must be comfortable making cold calls to local organizations
  • Must be organized and reliable
  • Outgoing personality 
  • Must be proficient in Gsuite (gmail, google forms, sheets, meetings, etc)
  • Must be comfortable hosting Zoom meetings 
  • Must be comfortable using CRM systems and making recruitment materials
  • Volunteer Recruitment, marketing or sales experience is a plus

Start Date: February 2021
Commitment:  Approximately 20 hours per week
Compensation: $10 – $12 per hour


 

INTERNSHIPS

We have 3 exciting new Internship opportunities! Seeking long term interns with the possibility of a stipend based on experience/knowledge level. Qualifications for all intern positions

  • Must be 18 or older
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • No degree or previous experience required, we encourage college students looking to gain experience to apply

Business Management Intern

The Business Management intern will learn all aspects of our bingo fundraising program. This program supports area nonprofits and public schools through grant opportunities, and has granted over $1,532,000 to the Peninsula since it’s inception. This is a large business endeavor and has many moving parts, and will facilitate real life experience on how a successful nonprofit and business is run.

The Business Management intern will:

  • Create job descriptions for all volunteer positions
  • Maintain and learn customer service skills
  • Learn how to keep track of inventory
  • Help train and manage volunteer staff
  • Gain experience with State Regulations 
  • Learn all aspects of how a business is run and managed

Position Requirements:

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Financial and accounting experience or interest
  • Ability to work evening and weekends 
  • Ability to work independently and part of team
  • Must be proficient with gSuite Applications (Google Drive, Google Forms, Google Sheets, gMail, Google meeting, etc.)
  • Must be extremely comfortable with computer skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
Internship Duration:  February 1, 2021 – Ongoing
Commitment:  Approximately 15-20 hours per week
Preferred Degree Paths: Great for business, finance, accounting, communications, and marketing majors. Also anyone who is interested in nonprofit employment.

Volunteer Outreach Intern

The Volunteer Outreach Intern will work alongside our Volunteer Coordinator and Marketing Manager. To be a well run nonprofit and support all of our programs we require a large amount of recurring and new volunteers. You will be assisting in canvasing for volunteers for bingo, which supports our grants to the Peninsula, and our COACH program, which supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

  • Volunteer recruitment by phone calls to local businesses and colleges.
  • Networking with community service clubs to promote repeat volunteers
  • Collaborate with CK team to create Volunteer Recognition program to improve retention
  • Flyer local businesses and colleges
  • Table in person or attend zoom networking functions
  • Seek out new opportunities for volunteers

Position Requirements:

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be outgoing and comfortable with public speaking
  • Ability to work evening and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work independently and part of team
  • Must be proficient with gSuite Applications (Google Drive, Google Forms, Google Sheets, gMail, Google meeting, etc.) and computer skills
  • Must be comfortable setting up and attending Zoom meetings
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Sales or marketing experience is a plus

Internship Duration:  February 1, 2021 – Ongoing
