| How are you collaborating with other Non-Profits and School Organizations in the Virginia Peninsula Community? | Our Youth Group has two or more Service Saturdays in which we serve those in our community with yard work, painting or whatever is needed. We also support and go to St. Paul's Soup kitchen in Hampton, St Vincent de Paul's Christmas Event in Newport News, Eggleston Services - Spending time with the adults, Giving supplies and spent time with Migrant Ministry on the Eastern Shore and The Parish Thrift Shop in Poquoson. |

| How will the Project/Program sustain or grow the community of the Virginia Peninsula of Hampton Roads? | The mission trip experiences create a desire to continue service in our local community. Imagine teens that are aware of the needs in their own community. What could be better? Our parish has been doing Mission trips since 2000, kids from years past are now coming back to help chaperon and lead groups, It was an experience they loved and now want to make sure that others are able to have that same experience they had. |
| Please give a brief description of how the Project/Program will be planned, organized and executed? | Each year in September the Work Camp Ministries committee with the input of the Youth Leadership Team decides on the best camps. Deposits are made. Fund raising begins (Bingo) Adult Leaders are secured, at least 1 for every 5 youth. Installment one is made. Free day activities are planned by those attending. Installment two is made. Departure times, arrival times are determined by the Work Camp Ministries committee. And Off we go for a week of service and eye opening experiences. |
| Please add any additional information you would like to share. | Our teens are learning by serving others it is not just the work being done that is rewarding, it is the effect they have on those being served. They are seeing a change in attitude and self worth. They are seeing smiles, and appreciation from the elderly that fear the teens in their own neighborhoods. They are actually seeing that it is them that is giving hope to the elderly, the poor and the needy. It really is a week well spent. |
