1. GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH

Okay, we know this sounds like we are making this one up, but in fact studies have shown that when you volunteer and put your energy into helping someone that your stress levels decrease, you get an increased sense of satisfaction, and your immune system is strengthened. The reason for this phenomenon is that by helping someone or a group in need naturally gives someone a sense of purpose and positive emotions.

2. SAY HELLO TO A CAREER BOOST

Philanthropy looks GREAT on a resumé. By showing that you are driven to invest in your community shows a positive impression and also implies that you have a diverse set of useful skills including collaboration and communication. Recruiters rank volunteer participation HIGHER in evaluating character well roundedness over personal presentation while evaluating a potential job candidate.

3. LEARN SOME NEW SKILLS

Lets stick to this career-boosting concept for a little longer. Employers love candidates with a wide range of soft skills and another great thing about volunteering is that it gives you just that! For example, if you were to volunteer with Community Knights, you wouldn’t just be opening yourself up to a group of new friends, you would be learning skills such as communication, teamwork within a group of mixed personalities, and leadership. AND on top of those interpersonal assets that you gain, people who volunteer gain access to great recommendations when the time comes that one is needed.

4. LET’S MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Volunteering gives you the opportunity to invest everyday into the sort of community you want to live in. Community Knights invests its fundraising dollars into supporting funding gaps in Peninsula schools and other non-profits in our region. To volunteer with us, you are putting emphasis in education and support services that need assistance right here at home. This gives you the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than yourself while also feeling good about what you are able to give our community.

5. GIVING BACK TO A CAUSE YOU BELIEVE IN

Not everyone is sure where to start in his or her volunteering journey. There are so many different organizations that need help and knowing that you are making impact in the right area can be difficult. Community Knights is here to help you find your passion. We are homegrown and take time to vet every organization that receives our GIFT Grant assistance. By volunteering with our bingo fundraiser, you are actually volunteering for a multitude of organizations and causes. Read more about how our volunteers have given us the ability support enrichment education at Spratley and equine therapy for individuals with disabilities through Dream Catchers.

Volunteering isn’t always rainbows and glitter, but the hard work will be worth it, you will be more committed to the cause and as a result, your impact will be that much bigger.

6. MAKE SOME REAL CONNECTIONS

Volunteering gives you an opportunity to meet all kinds of new people. The bingo fundraisers with Community Knights gives its volunteers a support system and amazing group of friends within its operation volunteers as well as the chance to connect with hundreds of the players that will grow to feel more like family. Volunteering gives you the chance to form real relationships that can have a lasting impact on your life. You may meet your new best friend, a future business partner or even happen to have a conversation that sparks that positive change in your life that you might not have realized you were looking for

7. BECOME A PART OF THE COMMUNITY

A lot of volunteers started simply because they were looking to become more involved with their community. Perhaps that kids are out of the house and you are looking to find a way to reconnect with the community or perhaps you are in or recently out of college and looking for something to invest your evening time into that is social and rewarding or perhaps after work you are looking to find fellowship and friends. Whatever your reason, becoming part of the local community is always rewarding.

8. GAIN A NEW PERSPECTIVE

Needing a new perspective? Volunteering changes how you see the world. You come into contact with people on a daily basis from different backgrounds, ages, and even cultures. A shift in perspective can open your mind to what is really important and shows you how small your problems are in the grand scheme of things. Everyone has some sort of problems in their life and volunteering can even offer solutions by connecting you with people who are there to support you just as much as you are there to support them. It’s a beautiful relationship.

9. LET’S GET INSPIRED
