Phoebus High FIRST Team Kicks off the 2016 Build Season!

The students and mentors of Phoebus High School’s the Phantom Mentalists, Team 2028 in FIRST Robotics, are gearing up for the 2016 competition kickoff taking place tomorrow, January 9th. At the kickoff, this seasoned group of young engineers will discover the game that they will create a robot to compete in this season. In a build cycle that lasts a mere 6 weeks, the team must design, build, and test their robot. All of us at Community Knights are proud to provide support for this amazing group of young people with grants through our GIFT (Grant Initiative Fundraising Team) program. The funds from this program assist these talented students from Phoebus High School to pay for entry fees, supplies and expenses related to travel and training for the FIRST competitions. It is even more inspiring when you see the alumni from this program go on to top ranked engineering programs or directly into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) jobs right here on the Virginia Peninsula after graduation.
