| How will the Project/Program use the requested grant funds to directly benefit the citizens of the Virginia Peninsula of Hampton Roads? | ( APAC)- Aviation Parents Advisory Committees mission is to make students potential a reality by providing support between our students, teachers , parents and the community, allowing them to see the different fields that they can go into after graduation and strive to reach higher goals. To do this, we try to offer field trips, scholarships, socials and after school actives allowing students to encourage, learn and support each other. This field trip is a first of its kind. Nothing has been done like this. We are certain that the experience the students get will get them spreading the word about the programs that the Aviation Academy offer! |
| How will the Project/Program sustain or grow the community of the Virginia Peninsula of Hampton Roads? | With the Aviation Academy offering some pathways that are only available here and offering such an extraordinary field trip, is that it will keep current students interested in striving to do more to reach heights they thought were impossible. In doing this we hope this will spread to all middle schools and get younger students from ALL backgrounds to see that anything is possible! |
| Please give a brief description of how the Project/Program will be planned, organized and executed? | The trip to Kennedy Space Center will be a group of 10 HUNCH (High school students United with NASA to Create Hardware) and 4 chaperones that will fly down to Orlando, stay in a hotel and use rental vans to travel to the Space center daily. This will be organized and executed by Christine Hagen and Neil Witherespoon. The trip will give insight to behind the scenes daily workings on the International Space station and how the lockers that our students have made are used and how the work the students do is helpful. |
| Please add any additional information you would like to share. | The opportunity that a program like yours allows is for our students to believe that there are people that are willing to believe in their education and their futures. Some of our students have never had that before. The students are pleased to have the opportunity to show you that we do care about our community and what is possible with some hard work, good morals and a purpose to believe. All of our students Strive to be the Best they can Be, regardless of the situations they may have in their personal lives. |
