When asked about his experience, Richard shared: “It’s pretty laid back and easy to learn. Everyone here is nice.” His favorite tasks include “putting away books, sorting shelves, sometimes dusting, and rearranging the book shelves.”

His advice to other students? “Take the chance, it may be useful for later in life if you get a job like this.”

Jaci, his Skills Trainer, shared the incredible progress of Richard. “The main task is to return the books to the shelves. The library is set up like his school is categorized,” Jaci explained. Richard’s dedication to his tasks is unmatched. “He’s very committed to completing what he has started. The biggest night he shelved 200 books!” she added.

Richard’s adaptability also shines. “He is very amenable if things change up,” Jaci noted. “He is so sweet and so easy going, always ready to lend a helping hand, and is great at self advocacy.” Jaci also praised Richard for saying what task wasn’t on the top of his list – dusting. “Even those who don’t have a disability if you know what you don’t want that’s fantastic,” she said.
