When asked about her future, Lexy says, “My dream job is to be an artist. I can make a job out of it if I’m lucky.” Seneca is quoted as saying Luck is where opportunity meets preparation, and Lexy now has a solid foundation of preparation to turn her dream into reality.
“I’ve been working on bookmarks. I go to a website called Canva and I design with a search feature,” Lexy shares. This internship introduced Lexy to Canva, and she has mastered it and created an impressive 164 designs, including flyers, Facebook posts, coloring pages, and bookmarks for library displays.
Bre, Lexy’s skills trainer, explains the valuable tasks Lexy has been mastering:
– Designing logos, flyers and coloring pages
– Creating engaging Facebook posts about book display
– Finding books online using bar codes
– Office work like printing and laminating
Lexy shares “[this internship] helped me gain confidence in getting a job.” She also values the support from her skills trainer, stating “She’s very nice and helpful.” When asked about how important reliable transportation was to her success, Lexy noted, “It helps me get there on time.”
