Q & A

Why do you want to be a skills trainer? – “It’s already up my alley with supporting my daughter. I have a passion for social work. I want to be and advocate for those with disabilities. It’s a community I’m already in and love.”

What are you looking forward to? “Getting to know my students and seeing their growth.”

What have you learned about people with disabilities through working with the READY Program? “I have experience with disabled/higher support needs kids and adults but it was really great to spend time with the teenager/young adult age range. They are all so resilient and capable of so much when they’re able to receive the support they need 🙂 “

“Kids with disabilities are usually not able to get job experience or learn important skills just by going to school — READY is so important to help guide and support them as they prepare to leave high school for the real world. With READY, they’re able to get one on one support while working and learning at a job site; which can completely change their lives.”
